Ohio woman pulls gun, stops purse-snatcher

An Ohio woman used her handgun to stop a purse snatcher, reports say.

FRANKLIN, Ohio -- A woman who witnessed a purse snatching came to the victim's aid, following the suspect and eventually pulling her handgun on him, causing him to drop the purse and run, reports say.

WCPO Channel 9 reports an 84-year-old woman was walking along a street Monday morning when an armed man snatched her purse away.

Mary Moore was driving on her way to pick up her grandchildren when she noticed the commotion.

"I look out my driver's door and I noticed a little lady running with her arms up," Moore tells WCPO. "She could not keep up with him any longer."

Moore tells WLWT Channel 5 she has a concealed carry license and that "instinct kicked in" and she caught up with the suspect in her car.

"I alerted him that I had my CCW and that I would like him to please drop her purse and to stop, that the police were on their way," Moore tells WLWT. "He dropped the purse, turned his back to me, held his hands up in the air and said, 'You can't shoot me in the back and I'm going to go ahead and go.'"

The suspect then ran off. Police were unable to find him after the incident.

The victim's purse was returned with nothing missing, reports say.

"It's the right thing to do," Moore tells WCPO. "We got to look out for each other. There is so much bad in the world now."
